It's hard to believe this race is almost over. Is America going to board the crazy train or not. Based on this story, I'm hopeful.

Mitt Romney Dismisses Tax Return Disclosure Calls From Republicans (VIDEO)
So without tax returns I get to assume what I want. In Mitt's case, I'm just going to assume he didn't pay any taxes at all.

Obama Singing Mocked By Mitt Romney Campaign
That ad is: a) a stupid ripoff b) the pot calling the kettle black
The GOP shouldn't even bother trying to say they care about the middle class. They should just embrace who they are, like Hardees. They're bad for you and you know it, but some of you just don't care.

Campaign 2012's Biggest Disconnect: Americans Want Out of Afghanistan, Candidates Would Rather Ignore It
I've said it before and I'll say it again- the explanation for why we're in Afghanistan and why the candidates don't want to talk about it can be summed up in three words: military industrial complex.

John Blumenthal: What Gingrich Learned From Reagan's Playbook: Go After the Moderators
John Blumenthal: What Gingrich Learned From Reagan's Playbook: Go After the Moderators
Here's what is TRULY appalling: that the Republican party spends so much time puffing up their chest and purporting that they are the party of the moral high ground, then when it comes time to have those morals questions put upon them, they divert the question as being the vicious 'liberal media'. But hey, can you blame Newt for trying to deflect these attacks early? He's got so many ethics issues under his belt that come the general election, the fodder is plentiful.

Happy New Year 2012!
Happy New Year to all those who may stumble upon this blog or who actually make it a destination (which I suspect is very few). As we all prepare for the toil and strife of the coming year, my only wish is that we all find some way to enjoy a few peaceful moments alone and with the ones we love. As I approach 35, it's been intriguing how my mind distills so much of the crap out: things I used to thing were important but really aren't, and things that didn't seem important for so long which suddenly matter.
Despite all my doom and gloom, there's actually a lot to be excited for this year. A few things that come to mind are:
Despite all my doom and gloom, there's actually a lot to be excited for this year. A few things that come to mind are:
- Ella! It has been such an amazing journey this year watching Ella grow up. It is just fascinating watching this little, helpless lump of sugar grow up and awaken. I can only imagine what this next year will bring watching her grow and blossom. She's my sweet angel and she has the best mom a kid could ask for.
- Watching the craziness of the mid-term Presidential elections unfold. If the GOP primaries have been any indicator, the general election should be a complete circus show. Mitt is the only one that has a chance.. the humorous thing to watch will be how the base 'settles' for him. As far as the evangelical wing is concerned, he's a cultist. The rest of the Repubs don't think he's strident enough in his conservatism to lead the party. This has always seemed like a queer indictment anyways because I couldn't imagine being proud of conservatism the way these people want to define it: xenophobic, homophobic, racist and (truly) elitist. I guess that's why I'm a moderate.
- Technology: Looks like there will be some sweet gear coming out in 2012.
- Canon is expected to roll out an update to the 5D Mark II (ostensibly the Mark III). The one thing I regret with all my camera gear is not holding out for a full-frame body. Meh!
- Ice Cream Sandwich. So much has been said about this.. but I do want to get a slicker OS for my new Android phone which will make my step-brothers envious.
- Another iPad? What more can they do to this device? It will be interesting to watch, but I'm skeptical they can make the cameras much better than they already are.
I'm sure there is other stuff which I'm forgetting, but this is a great start, don't you think?!
